The Alta and Snowbird resorts are the main attractions of Utah’s Little Cottonwood Canyon, located on the east bench of the Salt Lake Valley. Little Cottonwood offers the state’s highest north-facing ski peaks, and spectacular deep powder that lasts well through the end of spring. Drivers traveling to this area can take a convenient route from I-215 through the city of Sandy, which will take them past several different ski shops right on the way to the mouth of the canyon.
*Due to the dry and deep powder at these ski resorts, travelers are wise to rent gear when they arrive in town to make sure they get the best equipment for the conditions. The right ski and boarding gear can make the difference between a nice ski vacation and the ultimate winter destination experience.
